Think adventure courses are only for the young? Our oldest zipliners and Sky Trekkers prove that age is just a number when it comes to outdoor thrills.
At The EDGE, we regularly welcome visitors in their 60s, 70s, and beyond who prove that adventure has no age limit. While our marketing might feature young families and athletic twenty-somethings, some of our most enthusiastic guests are older adults who refuse to let age define their capabilities. If you are considering an adventure activity but worried that you are too old, this article is for you.
The only requirements at The EDGE are weight-based, not age-based. If you fall within the weight range for an activity and have the basic mobility to participate, your age is irrelevant. We have had guests in their 80s complete the zipline tour with huge smiles. The harness system does all the work on the lines, so you do not need exceptional strength or fitness to enjoy the experience. You need the ability to walk moderate distances between platforms, sit back in a harness, and lift your feet. If you can do those things, you can zipline.

Sky Trek offers particularly good options for older adults because of its self-directed nature. The green-rated elements on the lower levels are designed to be accessible while still providing a sense of adventure and accomplishment. You move at your own pace, take breaks whenever you want, and choose only the elements that feel appropriate for your abilities. There is absolutely no pressure to attempt anything beyond your comfort level. Many older visitors spend their session on the first two levels and have an incredible time without ever touching the advanced elements.

Physical preparation makes a difference for older adventurers. In the weeks before your visit, focus on exercises that improve grip strength, balance, and cardiovascular endurance. Simple activities like walking, light hand exercises with a stress ball, and standing on one foot for balance practice can significantly enhance your comfort on the courses. If you have any chronic conditions like arthritis, heart issues, or joint replacements, consult your doctor before booking and let our staff know at check-in so they can provide appropriate guidance.
The mental health benefits of adventure activities may be even more significant for older adults than younger ones. Research consistently shows that novel experiences, physical challenges, and outdoor time all contribute to cognitive health, emotional resilience, and reduced risk of depression in aging populations. The sense of accomplishment from completing a zipline tour or navigating an aerial course is a powerful antidote to the feeling of shrinking capability that many older adults experience. It is a concrete reminder that you are still capable of exciting, challenging things.

We encourage older visitors to bring a friend, partner, or family member for mutual encouragement. Many of our most heartwarming moments involve grandparents and grandchildren tackling courses together, each supporting the other in different ways. The grandchild provides energetic encouragement, while the grandparent models the courage it takes to try something new at any age. These intergenerational adventure experiences create bonds and memories that both parties treasure deeply.
