The EDGE sits inside one of Colorado's most impressive public parks. Discover everything this 300-acre destination has to offer beyond our adventure courses.
Philip S. Miller Park is far more than just the home of The EDGE Ziplines and Adventures. This 300-acre public park in Castle Rock is one of the premier outdoor recreation destinations in the Denver metro area, offering something for every age and fitness level. Whether you are visiting specifically for our adventure courses or looking to make a full day of it, this guide covers everything the park has to offer.
The park's most famous feature is Challenge Hill, a series of over 200 steps that climb steeply up the hillside to a stunning overlook. The staircase has become a fitness destination in its own right, drawing athletes, casual exercisers, and curious tourists from across the region. The steps are well-maintained and include intermediate landings for rest breaks. At the top, you are rewarded with panoramic views of Castle Rock, the Front Range, and on clear days, Pikes Peak to the south. Many visitors pair a morning stair workout with an afternoon at The EDGE for a full day of physical activity.

The playground areas at Philip S. Miller Park are among the best in Douglas County. The main playground features structures designed for multiple age groups, with toddler-appropriate areas separated from older-kid zones. Climbing structures, slides, swings, and creative play elements keep children engaged for hours. The playground is directly adjacent to The EDGE entrance, making it an excellent option for younger siblings who do not meet weight requirements for adventure activities or for burning off energy before and after scheduled activities.

The trail system within and surrounding the park offers miles of paved and natural-surface paths. The paved trail loop is stroller-friendly and ADA accessible, making it suitable for all ability levels. Natural-surface trails branch off into the surrounding open space for more adventurous hiking. The trails connect to the larger Douglas County trail network, so ambitious hikers can extend their walks well beyond the park boundaries. Wildlife sightings are common, particularly in the early morning and evening hours when deer, foxes, and raptors are active.
Pavilions and picnic areas are scattered throughout the park, available for reservation or first-come-first-served use depending on the facility. These covered structures provide shade, seating, and proximity to restrooms, making them ideal for group gatherings, birthday party lunches, or corporate event breaks between activities. The pavilions closest to The EDGE are particularly popular with our birthday party and group event clients who want a dedicated space for food and celebration between activity sessions.

The Miller Activity Complex at the base of Challenge Hill houses restrooms, water fountains, and seasonal concession services. The facility is modern, clean, and well-maintained by the Town of Castle Rock parks department. Free parking is available in multiple lots throughout the park, with the main lot just a short walk from The EDGE entrance. On busy summer weekends, overflow parking opens in additional areas, though arriving before 10 AM guarantees a spot in the closest lot.
For visitors planning an extended stay, the park is surrounded by dining and shopping options in Castle Rock proper. Downtown Perry Street is a five-minute drive from the park with locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. The Castle Rock Outlets are equally close in the opposite direction for those interested in retail therapy between adventures. This combination of world-class outdoor recreation, adventure activities, and nearby amenities makes Philip S. Miller Park one of the most complete day-trip destinations along the Front Range.
