Planning a family outing? Learn how to create the perfect adventure day with activities suited for every age group, from little ninjas to thrill-seeking teens.
A family day at The EDGE is about more than just one activity. With multiple adventure options spanning different thrill levels and age requirements, you can design a full day that keeps every family member engaged, challenged, and having a blast. Here is how to plan the ultimate family adventure day in Castle Rock.
Start your morning with the activities that require the most energy and focus. For families with older kids and teens who meet the 70-pound weight requirement, the Zipline Tour is the perfect way to kick off the day. The 10-line tour takes about two and a half hours and offers stunning views of the Colorado landscape. While the zipliners are soaring through the sky, younger kids can enjoy the Philip S. Miller Park playground, which is just steps away from The EDGE entrance.

After the zipline tour wraps up, gather the whole family for Sky Trek. This aerial ropes course features 110 different elements across four levels of difficulty, so everyone from age 5 and up can find challenges appropriate to their skill level. The green-rated elements on the lower levels are perfect for younger adventurers or anyone who prefers to stay closer to the ground, while the black-diamond elements on the upper levels will challenge even the most athletic family members.

Plan your lunch break around midday. Pack a picnic to enjoy at one of the park pavilions, or drive a few minutes to downtown Castle Rock for a restaurant meal. Popular family-friendly options include local burger joints and pizza places along Perry Street. Refueling properly is important, especially if you plan to tackle more activities in the afternoon.
The afternoon is perfect for the Adventure Tower and Ninja Warrior Course. The tower features a 50-foot climbing wall, rappelling stations, and the thrilling free-fall experience. Kids especially love the Ninja Warrior Course, which lets them test their skills on obstacles inspired by the popular TV show, including Colorado's largest warped wall. These activities have a lower weight minimum of 50 pounds, making them accessible to more family members. End the day with a family photo at the park overlook and maybe an ice cream stop on your way home. The shared memories of conquering fears and cheering each other on will last far longer than any screen-based entertainment.
